An Update from our Board of Directors

 Dear Friends,

As we continue to navigate our way through this global health crisis and the unprecedented circumstances of business closures and social gathering restrictions, The Marietta Center for the Arts has come to the very difficult decision to cancel the remainder of Susquehanna Stage’s 2020 Season of productions. As much as we wish it were otherwise, our first obligation is to the health and safety of our artists, audiences, and our community. By closing the Marietta Center for the Arts: Home of Susquehanna Stage, we are following the lead of our local, state, and federal governments; as well as the recommendations of the Department of Health and the Centers of Disease Control (CDC). It is our goal to keep everyone as healthy as possible and do our part in not spreading the COVID-19 virus.

We will continue to monitor, evaluate, and follow CDC recommendations in regard to the safety and health of all patrons, staff, and volunteers. We look forward to opening the Marietta Center for the Arts as soon as possible so that we can move forward with expanding the arts in Marietta and the surrounding community. We are working on a variety of new ways to bring the arts to you during a time when live theatre is at an intermission. When we are able to open our doors, the Marietta Center for the Arts will ensure to operate as CDC guidelines permit under a phased re-opening; adhering to recommended group size, all social distancing practices, and sanitization of the building.

During this temporary “intermission” from live theatre performances, we will be working on creating additional art educational opportunities for adults and children, building renovations, technical upgrades, fundraising, planning Susquehanna Stage’s 2021 Season, and revitalizing our community and volunteer base. For the remainder of the year, the Marietta Center for the Arts & Susquehanna Stage hopes to engage actors, singers and performers through virtual performances, acting and dance classes, and even live “POP UP” performances as circumstances will allow.

Over the next few weeks our Box Office will be working to contact all current and season ticket holders, sponsors, and advertisers. Updates and other announcements will continue to be made on social media and through email.

Although our lights on stage will go dark, the spirit of the arts in Marietta will remain burning brightly. We thank all of our patrons, actors, and volunteers for their support and understanding.  This is a difficult time for all of us, financially and emotionally, but we will be back – stronger and better than before! Thank you to everyone who has generously supported our education programs and Susquehanna Stage theater productions through donations, and to those who continue to do so. Until we meet again, please take care of yourselves and each other.

Thank you,

The Marietta Center for the Arts Board of Directors & Staff

Light the Stage: COVID-19 Relief Campaign

During these unprecedented times of social distancing and business closures, we recognize that many of us are experiencing a shared sense of stress. As a non-profit organization we find ourselves in a unique position and one of great financial strain as our doors are closed. Between maintenance costs, mortgage payments, revenue loss from the cancellation of the remaining 2020 Season, and several educational classes, we are left in a position we have never faced before.

It is now more than ever that we need your help to survive this time and prepare for a better one, where we can turn the lights back on and welcome actors and patrons alike back through our doors. You can help us continue to build on our passion for the arts and provide opportunities to our community by partnering with the Marietta Center for the Arts so that we can keep Susquehanna Stage’s theatre productions and our volunteer led educational classes alive!
